A growing fanbase of listeners from around the world streaming your music. Here's how to get there...

In Spotify Success, I teach you how to grow your fanbase on Spotify using cheap social media adverts. No experience needed, no existing social media profile needed, just good music and some creativity. I'll share with you how to plan your releases for maximum impact, and step by step how to create and run ads to get genuine music fans listening. I've used these tactics myself to grow my Spotify profile to thousands of monthly listeners.

Why learn from me? Great question.

I've been through the Spotify struggle. It's not easy for musicians to build a profile. Streaming opens up releasing music to anyone, but growing an audience is hard. I've even had music out with record labels and seen my numbers hardly change.

So I decided to take things into my own hands, started self releasing my music and learning how to promote it in the right way to build growth on Spotify.

You can see how my listeners graph hardly moved for years. Those tiny spikes on the left hand side are releases on established record labels! When I started self releasing and promoting my music myself, each release built my audience in a way that sustained and continued to grow!

There is lots of advice about how to do this online. Some of it is good, some a bit misleading. Most of it is scattered across many forum posts, YouTube videos and just stuck in the heads of people like me who have experimented and refined their techniques.

Finding all this knowledge takes countless hours. I've spent more than two years reading, watching, and experimenting - slowly building up a comprehensive understanding of how it all works. I've learned how Spotify uses good data to push your music to new listeners, and how it punishes you for 'bad' data from listeners who only have a casual interest in your music. I've learned what types of ads draw in the right listeners for a low cost.

I wanted to bring all of this knowledge together in one place. To share it with other musicians who are making great music but struggling to get it heard on the biggest music platform we've ever had.

In Spotify Success I share with you the following chapters, packed with information on promoting your music.

Chapter 1: Introduction - I go over my experience and why I am convinced that Spotify is an amazing opportunity for independent musicians.

Chapter 2: The Spotify Algorithm - I explain how Spotify collects data on music, how it uses this to decide who would like it and how popular it should be, and how it decides how to promote music to new fans.

Chapter 3: Your Strategy - I share an approach to planning the goals you have for your music, deciding who you want to reach, and setting ambitious but realistic goals so you can smash them!

Chapter 4: Understanding the ads flow - I explain the different elements of ads, how you need to move people from hearing a clip of your music to listening to it, to becoming a fan. I help you understand what you are going to build before you get started.

Chapter 5: Setting up your tools and accounts - This chapter shares step by step guides on how to set up the various online tools you need to run your own ads and get people to your music.

Chapter 6: Setting up a campaign for your release - Here I share step-by-step how to create and set up your own ads for a release. There are guides for creating the content you need to advertise your music, as well as the targeting and technical set up for the ads to reach the right people.

Chapter 7: Launching the single and release day - A guide to how to run that all important launch day, what not to forget, and how to unleash your music (and your promotions) on the world.

Chapter 8: Supporting with your social media - I run through how best to use the free side of social media networks to reach your existing fans, and support the ads you have set up.

Chapter 9: Tracking and learning - Everyone's music is different, and everyone's promotions should be too. In this chapter I explain how to try different things and learn what works best. The earlier guides should set you up for success, but you'll want to keep learning and optimising your promotions to get the biggest impact for the lowest cost. This chapter tells you how to do that.

Chapter 10: Your first experiment - A worked example of how to experiment and learn from ads, building on what you have already set up in Chapter 6, and the plans you have made in Chapter 9.

Chapter 11: Wrapping up your first campaign - I explain how to finish off your release, and give your music the best chance of success after this initial promotion.

Chapter 12: Advanced approaches - In this bonus chapter I share some more advanced tips I've learned on building your data over time to reduce costs, scaling ads up and down, and more on coming up with your own experiments. These are all things that can help you as you build on your first successful release and make your audience ever-growing.
